Alpha at St Matthews

Alpha is an eight-week course that explores the big questions of life.

Questions like: Why am I here? What’s the purpose of life? Is there more to life than this?

The course started in 1977 in London, and it now runs in 169 countries, in 112 languages

and over 29 million people have attended the course.

It’s designed primarily for people who wouldn’t call themselves a Christian.

But it’s also a great way for new Christians to explore the basics of the Christian faith.

About Alpha

It’s designed primarily for people who wouldn’t call themselves a Christian. But it’s also a great way for new Christians to explore the basics of the Christian faith.

Each Alpha night begins with a meal, followed by a talk (about God, life, faith and meaning), and then there’ll be discussion. During discussion, you’ll be invited to share your opinions, but you’re also welcome to just sit and listen to what others have to say.

The next course

The next course:

  • runs for eight Wednesday nights, starting 12 February and ending 1 April
  • meets at St Matthews Church Manly, from 7.30 to 9.30pm (including dinner)
  • There’ll also be an Alpha day away, which will meet offsite on Saturday 28 March

The course is free, except for the costs of the day away. In addition, there’ll be an opportunity to donate towards the costs of dinner.
